An interview with Terri Begley from ABC Radio about fireant issues in Queensland.
In 2001 the first crop of fire ants was detected in Queensland on a semi-rural property west of Brisbane.
Since then, according to a former policy advisor within the National Fire Ant Eradication Program, over $400 million of public money has been spent trying to eradicate fire ants.
Terri spoke to biologist and author Tim Low and Dr Pam Swepson who formerly worked for the Department of Primary Industries, and was a policy advisor within the National Fire Ant Eradication Program.
